Don't Look Down was the first gamemode that includes the Platforming style.

Tips[]
It is necessary to know that jumping down or falling off will send you back to Summit 1 if you have Checkpoints turned OFF. If you touch the lasers in Summit 6, you will get sent back to Summit 1 as well if you have Checkpoints turned OFF.
There are some small shortcuts in Don't Look Down, but it is advised that you shouldn't take them unless speed-running.
It is recommended that you close off any tabs that cause lag. If you don't, you may lag off the object you are standing on. Lagging may also cause double jumping to be stopped mid-air or glitching through objects when jumping.
The minimum Energy needed to get to the top is 40,000 energy without shortcuts, and the minimum is 30,000 energy with shortcuts.[1] There are some confusing parts of Don't Look Down. An example is the Frosty Peaks slide. On the slide made of wooden bench props, you must jump to it without using your double jump, then you get on the slide and you use your double jump when the jump to the other side is possible. Falling in Don't Look Down also uses Energy.
When enabled, checkpoints are added to every Summit. Falling off a platform will not make you re-spawn unless you fall all the way to the bottom. Falling to the bottom if you are high would take a long time and use up Energy.
How to Play[]
Answer questions. Earn Energy. Use Energy to move & jump! Climb to the top!
Trivia[]
- The first appearance of Don't Look Down was from a teaser from 2024 Season 1. Many of the new Cosmetics obtained from the Season Ticket also reference mountain climbing, such as Summit Seeker, Climbing Axe, 2024 Season 1 Ticket, and many more.
- While Don't Look Down was still in development, it caused many bugs, such as Gims having a glitchy appearance, twitchy movement, and more. There are still bugs currently.
- Don't Look Down was mainly created by Jakub, a Gimkit Staff member. Jakub created the main physics part of the game mode.
- Don't Look Down has references to previous game modes in the same way that Snowy Survival did.
- You can jump 4 meters with a single jump, and up to 6 meters while double jumping.
- Going to the three green flags that say "Go!" at the start after looking down, or falling to the bottom, will cause you to teleport back to Summit 1.
- There is a random barrier at the bottom of the map. It was confirmed by Josh that the barrier marked the very center of the Platforming Map. Another invisible one used to be even further, yet you couldn't jump over this one. Possibly, this was to keep you from looking down without actually climbing. This was replaced with a large, orange barrier that cannot be crossed, but was then made invisible again.
- There used to be a softlock that the player could not escape if they double jumped into it, in the first Summit, near the end. It was between a platform and the last red flag prop in the Summit.
- Summit 1 possibly indicates that there will be a medieval time game mode coming as many of the props are well developed and have been added to Gimkit Creative.
- In Summit 6, the plant lasers from One Way Out return. If you touch any of them, you WILL get sent back to Summit 1 if checkpoints are OFF but will be sent back to Summit 6 if checkpoints are turned ON.
- If one were to make it to Summit 3 before starting the game, it can be seen that the Agent of the Month is Pinky. This is likely a reference to Pinky's Disco in Tag: Domination and the Pinky Gim.
- The final banner on the How to Play depicting Zenith will say "Climb to the Top" with Checkpoints ON, while it will add "No Checkpoints" underneath that with Checkpoints OFF.
- At the end of the game, just before the finish, there is a platform based on every summit.
- In the April Fools' 2024, the gravity of Don't Look Down was changed to be much lower. This allowed the player to be able to make shortcuts that were not originally intended. It also raised the jump height to 15 meters and double jump height to 24 meters.
- If you reach Summit 6 while still in the game lobby, you will notice that the lasers never activate. This is because the game technically never started.
- The descriptions are "Climb your way to the top!" and "The higher you climb, the further you could fall!"
- This is the only Gamemode in Gimkit where you can go through the game when the game hasn't started yet.
- If one player beats Don't Look Down, the game will automatically end, regardless of time, except in the lobby.
- If you go to your left when the game has started, the How to Play section is still there for some reason.
Beta Appearance[]
Similar to One Way Out, This or That, Farmchain, Snowy Survival, and Snowbrawl, this mode had a testing period before it launched and was played on the official Gimkit discord server. Several changes were made between testing periods and post-launch, as several props were moved around to make the game more beginner friendly. Originally, Gims had severely slippery movement and more low gravity jumps making skipping props easier but harder to control as you could not stop air movement manually, and coyote jumps were difficult. A bug was discovered during testing where lasers never turned off making the game impossible to complete.
